The College of Notre Dame of Maryland has named Bel Air resident Kara M. Yendell director of conference services.
She comes to the college from Boordy Vineyards Inc., where she served as the tasting room manager. She has also served as director of catering and catering sales manager at the Holiday Inn BWI Airport Conference Center and food service director for ARAMARK.
Yendell has a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University.
Group donates book on black scientist
The Iota Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. recently presented the Harford County Public Library with 12 copies of the book Black Apollo of Science: Life of Ernest Everett Just by Kenneth R. Manning.
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity's mission is to provide social action in the community.
It donated the books to give Harford students access to information about the life of one of the leading black scientists of the early 20th century.
Manning's book documents Just's contributions not only to black history, but also to American and scientific history.
Hale receives award on Notre Dame Day
Jennifer Hale of White Hall recently received the Classical and Modern Foreign Languages Award at College of Notre Dame of Maryland's Notre Dame Day celebration.
The recipient is selected by the department's faculty as someone who embodies the college's spirit, is a person of highest integrity and values the liberal arts.
Notre Dame Day is a yearly celebration of the college's heritage and recognition of the achievements of the college's community.
