Chambers to meet With OBI leaders

The Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce and the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Opportunity Builders Inc. 7509 Connelley Drive, Suite O, Hanover.

BWI business group to meet Wednesday

The BWI Business Partnership will hold its monthly signature breakfast meeting from 7:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Holiday Inn BWI Airport, 890 Elkridge Landing Road, Linthicum.

The guest speaker will be Capt. Margaret D. Klein, commandant of midshipmen at the Naval Academy.

The breakfast meeting is free or $25 for members, depending on membership level; and $40 for others. Reservations are required by tomorrow.

Bar association to hold law sessions

The Anne Arundel Bar Association will hold a Continuing Legal Education session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County to discuss presenting cases pertaining to marital property and monetary awards. The cost is $35 for members; $40 for nonmembers and at the door.

The association will also hold a charity pub quiz night from 7:30 to 9:30 April 7 to raise money for the Scholarship for Scholars program, at Galway Bay, 63 Maryland Ave., Annapolis. The cost is $30 per person, $40 after March 31, and includes dinner and donation to the Scholarship for Scholars program.

Sailing school to offer class for teens

The Annapolis Sailing School will offer a new course for teens interested in crewing on or sailing cruising auxiliaries.

Partipants must have completed the sailing school's Team Sailing program or have similar training.

The course, "Introduction to Cruising," is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and one Thursday overnight sail starting in May.

Photographer Connie Groah has 35 photos featured in the new coffee-table book by JC Suares,' The Big Book of Babies, portraying their innocence and playfulness.

Severn Savings Bank names VP

Kevin W. Carter has been named vice president of commercial lending for Severn Savings Bank FSB.

Carter is responsible for developing commercial banking products and services, and fostering relationships in the business community.

Carter has more than 20 years experience in the banking industries working with banks such as SunTrust, M&T; and Carrollton.

Schubert gets top insurance honor

Craig Schubert, a financial planner with the Prudential Insurance Company of America, was named a Top of the Table member and a qualifying and life member of the Million Dollar Round Table.

The Million Dollar Round Table is one of the life insurance industry's most prestigious organizations.

Magazine wins five awards

Chesapeake Family magazine has won five "2007 Editorial and Design" awards from the Parenting Publication of America.

The magazine received two gold awards in the Front Cover Designs category for its June and August covers, a silver award in the Special Section category for its June TRI-iT magazine, and two bronze awards in the Briefs/Short Stuff and Infographics category.
