The Parent Teacher Associations of Fulton Elementary School and Lime Kiln Middle School will sponsor a golf tournament May 2 at Hampshire Greens Golf Course, 616 Firestone Drive, Silver Spring.
The cost for the shotgun-start, best-ball tournament is $100 for individuals; $420 for foursomes. Included are 18 holes of golf with cart, complimentary beverages, a 20 percent discount on pro shop items, a goody bag and awards.
The event concludes with a buffet, raffle and silent auction.
Sponsorships are available. The schools also are seeking items for the silent auction.

'Cinderella on Ice' on Saturday
The Gardens Figure Skating Club will present "Cinderella on Ice" at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday and at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. March 30 at the Gardens Ice House, 13800 Old Gunpowder Road, Laurel. Patuxent refuge seeks teen workers
The Patuxent Research Refuge in Laurel will hold a summer Youth Conservation Corps program for teens who will work and learn outdoor conservation projects.
The program is open to those ages 15-18 who are citizens or legal residents of the United States. Participants work full time for eight weeks and earn minimum wage.
The program runs from June 23 through Aug. 15.
Previous work projects have included repairing fencing, clearing vegetation, building and improving trails, cleaning water-control structures, removing invasive plants and contributing to wildlife management programs.
The youth also participate in educational programs and get training in first aid and CPR.

Laurel advertising -- The Laurel Museum's newest exhibition, "Buy It Here: Laurel Advertises," explores how advertising illustrates the town's story and how advertising techniques were used to sell everything from housing to circus tickets in Laurel. Objects on display date to 1866; objects which lined Laurel's Main Street, came through residents' mail boxes, were shown in local papers or described in broadcasts on radios are in the exhibit, which includes a metal pig from the Laurel Meat Market and an 1896 Fairall and Ross Directory (a precursor of the Yellow Pages). The museum is at 817 Main St. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Admission is free. The exhibition runs through December. Home improvement -- Historic Savage Mill will continue its series of free home improvement seminars at 4 p.m. March 30 with a "Home Design Open House," featuring designers, antique dealers and guests. Volunteers sought -- The Volunteer Center Serving Howard County, in cooperation with CERN (the Community Emergency Response Network) is recruiting and referring members of the community to local nonprofit and government agencies in need of volunteers for disaster preparedness and recovery.
