New face of football posted

The Baltimore Sun

In a somewhat stunning development, New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss is being honored on official U.S. Postal Service commemorative envelopes in West Virginia this week. This is not to be confused with having your picture on an actual stamp -- for that, you have to be dead.

But still, it's quite an honor. Moss, a West Virginia native, joins two other Mountain State athletes who have been distinguished in this fashion: basketball star Jerry West and gymnast Mary Lou Retton.

Here's a quote from USPS District Manager Karen Schenck: "Randy Moss is to football what Tiger Woods is to golf."

Hmm.

So a ceremony is planned for tomorrow in West Virginia for the introduction of the limited edition envelope. It has Moss' statistics for his career and record-breaking 2007 season, and a smiling head shot. If such an envelope were ever issued in Wisconsin, one would anticipate it would show a different side of Moss.
