Initiative aims to get families talking

Home Instead Senior Care office in Arnold is participating in a nationwide initiative to get seniors and their families talking about sensitive and serious issues before they reach crisis levels.

Analysis of the research conducted by Home Instead Senior Care, an international company providing in-home, nonmedical care to seniors, revealed that communication hurdles can be overcome by following the 40-70 Rule: When the child reaches 40 or the senior reaches 70, it's time to begin those difficult conversations.

At the center of the 40-70 Rule public education campaign is a free guide of conversation starters for sensitive senior-care subjects from the Arnold Home Instead Senior Care office, whose professional caregivers serve seniors in Anne Arundel and Howard counties. The free guide offers possible responses to awkward senior subjects.
