Cecil College is offering two-hour English for Speakers of Other Languages classes at Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Ave., Elkton.
Advanced writing classes will be held at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays, March 17 to May 19. Tuition is $55 and the course fee is $20.
Advanced Pronunciation is offered at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesdays, March 19 to May 14. Tuition is $50 and the course fee is $20.
Advanced Reading is held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays through May 21. Tuition is $75 and the course fee $20. It began March 5.

Public schools announce closings
Harford County public schools will dismiss elementary school students at 1 p.m. Thursday for teachers' planning time.
Schools will be closed for spring vacation Friday through March 26. Offices also will be closed Friday.
Schools will be closed for students March 27 and 28 for teacher staff development days.
Schools reopen March 31.

Sports camp planned at HCC
Harford Community College will hold a Spring Training Sports Camp for children ages 7 to 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 25-28 on the Bel Air campus.
The cost is $174 and includes tennis, whiffle ball, soccer, cup-stacking, lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, flag football, kickball, floor hockey, sports, crafts and team-building exercises.
All campers will get two sessions of swimming games. All participants should be able to swim; the shallowest end of the pool is 4 feet deep.
Lunch is included in tuition. Before- and after-care is also available.

Teacher of the year nominations open
Harford County public schools have announced that nomination forms for the 2008-2009 Teacher of the Year award are available online at www.hcps.org.
Part of the Maryland State Teacher of the Year Award program, the county award honors a teacher with outstanding qualities who is considered a model educator.
Nominees must have five years' teaching experience. Nominations must include specific examples of the teacher's impact on students, other teachers and the community. Letters of support for the nominee also are required.
Deadline for nominations is 4 p.m. March 28.

Computer repair classes offered
Harford Community College is offering courses in the A+ Certification curriculum, an industry-wide, globally recognized credential for personal computer repair technicians.
Preparation courses include PC Repair Technician Level 1, where students learn and understand how different hardware and software components interact to make a PC system function.
Command Line/Desktop provides the essential baseline information needed to succeed in this program.
PC Repair Technician Level 2 training builds on the knowledge gained in Level 1. Students will dismantle and reassemble a complete PC system to identify, repair and/or replace every component in the PC system.
The series begins from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 29 in the Edgewood Public Library with the Command Line course.

Irish, Celtic offerings on WHFC-FM
Ed McBride's Reflections of Ireland has returned to the airwaves on Sundays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on 91.1 WHFC-FM.
A native of Derry, Northern Ireland, McBride came to the United States in 1958 at the age of 20. He worked in radio at WITH, WTOW, WFEL and finally, WTMD, where Reflections of Ireland aired for 21 years, ending in November 2006.
The show joins WHFC's diverse lineup, including flagship Celtic program The Pub, hosted by Belfast-born Tim O'Neill, Mondays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Donations sought for after-prom
The C. Milton Wright Project Graduation Committee is planning to hold an After Prom Party for graduating seniors this spring.
This new event will be in addition to the cruise normally held after graduation.
The party will be patterned after other schools' drug- and alcohol-free parties.
The committee has accepted the offer of a car from Jones Junction in Bel Air, to be given away at the party.
Donations for door prizes and other giveaways are still needed for the substance-free party.
