Shooting -- A boy, 15, was shot in the left hip during an incident about 7:30 p.m. yesterday behind the Dollar Store at Ninth Street and West Patapsco Avenue and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Details were not available.
Victim identified -- Police yesterday identified the teenager shot to death Tuesday in the 2500 block of Edgecombe Circle North as Tavon Burks, 16, of the 5200 block of Elmer Ave. in Pimlico. Burks was found shot in the upper body about 6:15 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene. Metro Crime Stoppers, 410-276-8888, is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and an indictment.
Theft of mail -- Police were seeking a woman who on Monday or Tuesday stole personal and business mail from the mailbox of a house in the 3600 block of Pulaski Highway. During each episode, the occupant videotaped the woman and turned the tape over to police.
Stolen vehicle -- A white 1997 GMC van with tags 56E 275 was stolen Tuesday in the 200 block of S. Grundy St.
Burglary -- Jewelry, socks, T-shirts, 10 digital cameras, an air conditioner, a portable heater, glassware and other items - all valued at nearly $1,700 - were stolen Sunday or Monday from Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake in the 200 block of S. Broadway by someone who entered after removing an air conditioner from a window.
Burglary -- Two laptop computers were stolen Sunday or Monday from a house in the 700 block of S. Broadway by someone who entered through a third-floor window.
Burglary -- Someone broke into Security Loans & Pawn in the 3400 block of Eastern Ave. over the weekend through a rear wall and stole coins and jewelry.
Burglary -- Police were seeking two young men who broke into a shed in the 800 block of Rosedale Ave. on Tuesday and stole three nail guns. The occupant caught the boys, but they broke loose from his grip and fled. The property was recovered.
Burglary -- Two men stole a propane cooking grill from a house in the first block of Perry Ridge Court on Tuesday, then fled when confronted by a neighbor. The property was left behind.
Burglary -- An orange dirt bike valued at $2,000 was stolen between March 3 and Tuesday from a shed in the 11000 block of Raphael Road.
Burglary/arrests -- Police responding to a burglar alarm at a doctor's office in the 8100 block of Harford Road about 1 a.m. Tuesday caught two teenage boys breaking into the building. Nearly $60 was recovered. Both youths were charged as juveniles and released into the custody of their parents.
