Charles I. "Chuck" Ecker is superintendent of Carroll County public schools, a position he accepted on a temporary basis eight years ago. The temporary job turned into a permanent one in 2002, and the Carroll County native is now in the middle of his second four-year term.
Ecker, who started his career as a teacher and coach in Carroll, worked as an administrator in Prince George's and Howard county schools. In the 1990s, he stepped out of his educator role to serve two terms as county executive in Howard County.
