Three teenagers face drug charges

Three teenagers have been arrested on drug charges after police found alcohol and marijuana worth $2,800 in their car, Anne Arundel County police said.

Officers saw the vehicle parked in a poorly lighted area of a parking lot in the 3200 block of Route 2 in Edgewater about midnight Thursday, saw the alcohol and smelled the marijuana, police said. They seized a backpack containing 534.5 grams of marijuana, 10 Ecstasy pills and $378, police said.

Anthony Michael McCarthy, 19 of the 1400 block of Warfield Road in Edgewater, Jay Tyler Hughes, 19, of the 14400 block of Old Stage Road in Bowie and an unidentified 17-year-old male from Edgewater were charged with possession of drugs, possession with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police arrest suspect in several burglaries

A man who police think may be responsible for several Annapolis-area break-ins was apprehended early Thursday morning, and police say his shoes helped lead to the arrest.

Carlester Sellman Sr., 49, of the 200 block of Gross Ave. was arrested at his home after police linked him to a Feb. 17 burglary in the 1600 block of Cedar Park Road, police said.

Police began investigating Sellman after an officer stopped him Feb. 28 and conducted a field interview. A search warrant was executed on Sellman's home and resulted in the recovery of several items that had been stolen in recent burglaries, police said.

Among the clues that helped police connect Sellman to the crime was a shoe print left on the glass of a door that the intruder had tried to kick in.

Sellman was charged with first-degree burglary and destruction of property, police said. He was being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Man is charged in 2 bank holdups

A man has been charged with robbing two banks within four days, Anne Arundel County police said.

Employees at the Bank of America branch at 80 Mountain Road in Glen Burnie told police that a man came in about 3:30 p.m. Feb. 29, approached a teller and handed her a note saying that he was armed and wanted money. The teller handed him an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled.

Four days later, about 1:30 p.m., a robber used the same tactics to rob BB&T; Bank at 2020 Mountain Road.

After police distributed photos of the robbery, someone made an identification for detectives.

Officers arrested Jason Russell Lester, 31, Wednesday and charged him with both robberies. His address was not available.

Man, 23, arrested on drug charges

A 23-year-old Baltimore man was arrested on drug charges after officers who pulled him over found more than 400 grams of marijuana in his car, Anne Arundel County police said.

Detectives who had been tracking William Charles Hill Jr., of the 2800 block of Booker Drive, had been tipped off that he was coming to Anne Arundel to deal drugs, police said. Officers pulled over Hill's 1994 Honda near the Beltway and Route 10.

During the traffic stop, a police dog alerted police to the presence of illegal drugs. Officers seized 444 grams of marijuana worth more than $8,000 from a grocery bag in the car, police said.

Hill was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.

Pregnant woman sought in assault

Annapolis police are looking for a pregnant woman suspected of hitting another woman with her car, a woman she blamed for her husband's being sent to jail.

About 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 24-year-old Glen Burnie woman told police, the pregnant woman tried to run her down in the parking lot of the Graul's market in the 600 block of Taylor Ave., police said. The victim told police that she and the driver had just left the district courthouse, where the driver's estranged husband had been sentenced to six months in jail for assaulting the victim.

The driver was reportedly enraged that he would not be around for the birth of her child and drove into the victim, injuring her hand, then drove off, police said.
