Seahawks get 50 in 2nd to top Guilford, advance

A 50-point second half helped St. Mary's beat Guilford, 89-77, in the first round of the Division III South Regionals.

The Seahawks were led by Tyson Lesesne, who scored a team-high 27 points on 10-for-13 shooting. Alex Irmer scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds, and Mike Smelkinson added 18 points to go with a team-high seven assists. He made four of eight three-pointers and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

St. Mary's will face Widener at 7 tonight in the second round.
