Greyhounds ousted in quarters vs. Iona

Loyola was held to 34 percent shooting and committed 20 turnovers as the Greyhounds' season ended with a 74-59 loss to No. 2 seed Iona yesterday morning in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference quarterfinals.

The Greyhounds (13-17) turned the ball over on their first five possessions and had 13 turnovers in the first half. Iona (18-12) held them to 28 percent shooting from the field in the half.

Despite the early miscues, Loyola kept the score close. Kaitlin Grant tied the game at 10 with 12:14 to play in the first half, and Candice Walker cut Iona's lead to 18-15 with 7:51 remaining.

Iona, however, went on an 18-6 run to close the half, taking a 36-21 halftime lead on two free throws by Lauren DeFalco with 18 seconds left.
