Women in business topic of conference in Catonsville

The Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville campus chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges will hold its seventh annual Women's Expo from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The event will feature more than 200 businesses owned or operated by women. It will take place in two tents as well as in the gymnasium and cafe.

Admission ($6) will be waived for those with a college or university ID and those on active military duty. The event's Web site, www.womensexpomd.com, offers a $1-off coupon.

Jacksonville

Emergency survival is focus of classes

Jacksonville area residents can learn how to survive the first 72 hours of an emergency at the Neighbors Helping Neighbors" program starting Tuesday at the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Company.

Five classes will focus on: natural disasters and technological hazards; fire safety and extinguishers; crime prevention and awareness; CPR and first aid; and volunteer opportunities.

Classes begin at 7 p.m. and last for about two hours. Participants may attend some or all of the classes, which will be conducted by experts from local public safety agencies.

Timonium

Students to compete in math challenge

Students in fifth to eighth grades from 70 county public schools will compete in the M&T; Bank "24 Challenge" math tournament from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Greenspring Drive in Timonium.

Students will compete in "24," a flashcard-style math game designed to improve computation skills, deductive reasoning and problem-solving ability.

Five grand champions will win $1,000 U.S. savings bonds from M&T; Bank.

250 students to vie in STEM Fair

More than 250 county middle and high school students will compete in science, technology, engineering and mathematics challenges at the second annual Baltimore County Public Schools Secondary STEM Fair.

The competition, originally scheduled for Feb. 23, will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Dulaney High School, 255 Padonia Road. It will feature student science projects and team competitions.

Owings Mills

JCC to hold virtual tour of colleges

The College Center at the Jewish Community Center will hold a virtual college tour workshop for college-bound students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC, 3506 Gwynnbrook Ave.

Students will be able to explore colleges within three hours or 150 miles of Baltimore. Topics will include academics, location, size and other factors in picking a college.
