Former Gov. William Donald Schaefer was taken to the emergency room at Baltimore Washington Medical Center yesterday after a minor fall but was not seriously injured.

Lainy LeBow-Sachs, a longtime friend of Schaefer's, said the former governor and mayor of Baltimore tripped on a curb at his home in Anne Arundel County.

Schaefer cut himself on the nose, requiring stitches.
