COLLEGE PARK — COLLEGE PARK -- Gary Williams will turn 63 today, but forgive the Maryland coach if he's in no mood to celebrate. What could have been an early birthday present from his team was tossed away in the last 11 minutes of a damaging 73-70 defeat to Clemson on Sunday night at Comcast Center.

The day after Maryland blew a 20-point lead to the Tigers and, perhaps, a spot in this year's NCAA tournament, Williams said it was going to be difficult - though not impossible - for the Terps to rebound from what was one of the most crushing losses of his 30-season coaching career, the past 19 spent at his alma mater.
