Man found fatally injured on street

An autopsy was set for today to determine whether an apparently homeless man found injured yesterday afternoon at a Barclay intersection was the victim of a beating or was hurt in a hit-and-run accident, police said.

About 1 p.m., Northern District police responded to the 2300 block of Guilford Ave., where they found a man in his 40s with multiple injuries to his upper torso. The man, believed to be living in a nearby vacant house, was taken by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he died a short time later, police said.

Police said no one reported seeing what happened and that his death had been ruled suspicious, pending autopsy results.
