Trembley makes himself at home

VIERA, Fla. -- Three days into the exhibition season, Orioles manager Dave Trembley had his first home game.

And it was a 2 1/2 -hour drive from the Orioles' spring training camp in Fort Lauderdale.

Trembley lives in Daytona Beach Shores, Fla., roughly an 80-minute drive north of here. Space Coast Stadium is as close as he'll get to his offseason home this spring. So his family and friends came to him.

He had about a dozen supporters here to watch yesterday's game against the Washington Nationals, including his wife, Patti, and 17-year-old son, Kevin.

Kevin, a high school junior and aspiring shortstop, was on the field before the game wearing an Orioles T-shirt.

It wasn't his dad's No. 47, though. It was No. 21, for right fielder Nick Markakis.

"He really likes Nicky," Trembley said.
