PLAY IT AGAIN

BENCH HELP

Maryland's much-maligned and little-used bench came up big. Jerome Burney and Adrian Bowie each played 16 minutes, and Cliff Tucker played 10. Tucker had five rebounds, Bowie had three points and a steal, and Burney had a basket and two blocks.

OFF THE SICKBED

Senior center Bambale Osby wasn't much of a factor, going scoreless and pulling down only four rebounds in 24 minutes. But "Boom" had a pretty good reason, considering he had spent Monday and Tuesday in the campus infirmary with the flu.

THE NCAA PICTURE

The win improves the Terps' chances for an NCAA tournament spot. They basically knocked Wake Forest out of contention but still have to compete with Virginia Tech and Miami if the ACC gets only four bids.

COMING ATTRACTION

Sunday night's game against Clemson will be more than a night to honor Maryland's seniors. It will be an opportunity to improve the team's NCAA tournament resume if the Terps can beat the Tigers, who are in third place in the ACC at 8-5.
