Brent Field Buchheister, a retired banker, died of pneumonia Feb. 19 at a Pinos Altos, N.M., hospital. The former Annapolis resident was 69.
Born in Baltimore and raised in Upper Marlboro, he was a 1956 graduate of St. Paul's School for Boys. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Washington and Lee University and attended the Northwestern University School of Bank Marketing. He served in the Naval Reserve Squadron VP 662 in the 1960s at Andrews Air Force Base.
In 1986, he retired as a vice president at the old Mercantile-Safe Deposit & Trust Co.
A boating enthusiast, he was a former member of the Annapolis Yacht Club, the Sailing Club of the Chesapeake and the Southern Maryland Society.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 14111 Oak Grove Road in Upper Marlboro.
Survivors include two sons, Gustav William Buchheister of Mayo and retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Christopher Field Buchheister of Annapolis; a daughter, Katherine Brent Crutchley of Annapolis; a brother, William Field Buchheister of South Pasadena, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth Field Ford of Lothian; and seven grandchildren. His marriage to the former Mary Beatrice Martin ended in divorce.
