Julian Conyers and Mike Miller, both seniors, scored 14 points apiece as Coppin State won its home finale, 68-45, over Howard last night for its seventh consecutive victory.
It's the Eagles' longest winning streak since the 1998-99 season.
Tywain McKee, also a senior, added 12 points for Coppin (11-19, 6-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Miller's 14 points were a career high.
Conyers went 5-for-7 from the field, including 2-for-3 on three-pointers, for Coppin (11-19, 6-8 Mid- Eastern Athletic Conference), which shot 56.5 percent in the first half and never trailed. Howard (5-23, 2-11) shot just 30.4 percent overall.
Women
Coppin State 101, Howard 57 -- Senior Rashida Suber scored 19 points in her final home game, and the Eagles broke the Coppin Center's single-game scoring record in their victory over the Bison. Suber finished 8-for-11 from the field, and senior backcourt mate Shalamar Oakley added 14 points. Coppin extended its winning streak to six games. The Eagles (17-11, 11-3 MEAC) broke the previous Coppin Center record of 100 points, which they set against Eastern (Pa.) on Nov. 28, 1987. The Eagles shot 58.1 percent from the field, including 65.5 percent in the first half en route to a 44-17 lead at intermission. Danielle Anders added 15 points, and Chanelle Downing and Arielle Townes each scored 11. All 10 Coppin players who played scored. Tamaya Daniels had 22 points to lead Howard (3-23, 2-11).
