The planet Saturn is at opposition tonight. That means it rises in the east "opposite" the setting sun. It's Earth's closest approach to the ringed giant this year - "only" 771 million miles away in the evening sky. This the best time of year to catch a glimpse through a telescope. No one ever forgets their first view of Saturn and its iconic ring system. So visit your local street-corner astronomer or attend a nearby observatory open house and see Saturn for yourself.
