BURNEY PLAYS; DUPREE SITS
In what might become a trend, redshirt freshman Jerome Burney played for the first time in 14 games and freshman Braxton Dupree didn't play at all for the second time in three games. In his 12-minute stint, Burney gave Maryland a bigger, stronger, more athletic presence inside.
HAYES OUT OF SHOOTING SLUMP ...
Sophomore guard Eric Hayes, who had made just five of 24 shots his previous three games, hit five of eight against Miami and went 3-for-5 on three-point attempts after shooting 4-for-13 in the previous three. But Hayes continues to commit turnovers, with four against the Hurricanes, giving him 13 in the past four games.
... AND GIST IN ONE
Since scoring a career-high 30 points in a win over North Carolina State two weeks ago, senior forward James Gist has been held to single digits twice and scored just 10 yesterday. He has shot a combined 12-for-36 in the past four games.
COMING ATTRACTION
The Terps play Thursday against Wake Forest at Lawrence Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Demon Deacons, who have one of the youngest teams in the country, beat then-No. 2 Duke at home a week ago and have won three straight going into tonight's game at No. 3 North Carolina.
