Woman to go to trial in cat-hoarding case
A Columbia woman charged with 155 counts of animal cruelty for hoarding 75 cats in a home she shared with her mother will go to trial, a Howard County judge ordered yesterday.
Nese Enetullah Icgoren, 52, of the 7300 block of Swan Point Way will go to trial June 27, a spokesman for the Howard County state's attorney's office said.
Icgoren's case was placed on the inactive docket last spring as part of a plea agreement that required her not to own animals for a year. A surveillance video showing her buying animal food was presented at the trial yesterday. She was found guilty of animal cruelty last spring.
Her mother, Ayten Icgoren, is appealing her conviction and is scheduled for trial in Howard County Circuit Court on April 8.
