Robert Louis Subock Sr., a retired National Security Agency engineer, died of a heart attack Feb. 15 at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center. The Randallstown resident was 76.
Born and raised on a Hebbville farm, he was a 1949 Catonsville High School graduate. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1955.
As a young man, he worked at Caton Radio, Glenn L. Martin Co. and Westinghouse Corp. before becoming an electronics engineer for the National Security Agency at Fort Meade. He retired in 1995.
Active in Scouting, he trained Boy Scout masters at Broad Creek Memorial Scout Reservation. He also enjoyed reading and was an animal lover. He kept several beehives in his backyard. He was also a volunteer neighborhood handyman.
"He was helpful to the older persons and persons who lived alone. He fixed hot-water heaters, washers and dryers, and broken VCRs," said his daughter-in-law, Lisa Subock of Finksburg.
A Mass was offered Wednesday at Holy Family Roman Catholic, where he was a member.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 53 years, the former Faith A. Watts; two sons, Robert L. Subock Jr. of Owings Mills and John T. Subock of Finksburg; a daughter, Kathleen M. Subock of Eldersburg; two brothers, Dallas E. Subock Sr. and John I. Subock, both of Randallstown; and three grandchildren.
