'STOMP' IT OUT

Celebrate Black History Month as native South African Lesole Maine and his dance troupe express various cultural art forms in Stomp, South Africa! The performance is made up of Gumboots, which emulates the Johannesburg gold-mine workers; Ndlamo, displaying the Zulu culture; and Pantsola, a youth dance comparable to hip-hop. A modern representation of the South African youth makes up the grand finale.

THE FINAL FRONTIER

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Being in Space is revealed courtesy of the Hackerman Academy of Mathematics and Science. Don Thomas, an astronaut of four space shuttle missions, gives insight into daily activities such as eating, sleeping, exercising and brushing one's teeth in space. A presentation about weightlessness will show some creative experiments that are possible without gravity. Thomas will be available for questions after the presentation.

WOMEN'S HEALTH

The Sister to Sister Women's Heart Health Fair offers women's heart screenings to assess cholesterol, body mass index, blood pressure and waist circumference. In addition to reviewing family health history, medical counselors will explain what the results mean and how to improve overall health. There will also be stress-reducing massages, chefs giving heart-healthy recipes and fitness experts demonstrating exercises. Diabetes, smoking cessation and obesity are also topics of discussion.

JEWS AND WWII

Through letters, photographs and artifacts, learn the story of the achievements of Jewish men and women who served on and off the battlefield during World War II.

The opening-day events for the exhibit Ours to Fight For: American Jews in the Second World War, created by the Museum of Jewish Heritage -- A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, will feature swing dancing with uniformed members of Charm City Swing as well as the opportunity to create your own victory garden. Vintage dress is encouraged, and food and beverage will be provided.
