Hofstra's late run overwhelms Towson

State basketball Antoine Agudio scored 15 of his 27 points in the second half to lead Hofstra to an 81-67 victory over Towson in a Colonial Athletic Association game last night.

Charles Jenkins added 17 points for the Pride (10-16, 7-9), which won its third straight.

Josh Thornton scored 21 points to lead the Tigers (10-16, 6-10), who trailed 38-37 at halftime but lost their 11th straight road league game. C.C. Williams added 15 points and seven assists, and Junior Hairston had 12 points.

Hairston's three-point play gave the Tigers their last lead of the game, 55-53, at 9:43.

Agudio had a three-pointer to start a 21-6 run that put Hofstra on top 74-61 at 4:33. Jenkins made one of two foul shots to complete the rally.

Navy 72, Holy Cross 66 -- Greg Sprink scored 25 points, Chris Harris added 23 and both made free throws in the final seconds to lead the host Midshipmen over the Crusaders. Holy Cross (14-11, 5-7 Patriot League) had the ball trailing 68-66 with nine seconds left, but Pat Doherty missed a jumper and Sprink got the rebound and was fouled. He made both free throws to put Navy (14-12, 7-4) up 70-66. Harris added two free throws with less than a second left for the final margin. Tim Clifford scored a career-high 34 points for Holy Cross. The victory was Navy's 11th win in 15 games since a 3-8 start.

Women

Swarthmore 68, Washington College 65 -- Ceylan Bodur's layup with 35 seconds left proved to be the winning points as the Garnet (7-16, 4-13 Centennial Conference) rallied from a 59-49 deficit to beat the host Shorewomen (9-15, 6-11).
