St. Mary's women win opener

The St. Mary's women's lacrosse team opened its season yesterday with a 16-8 Capital Athletic Conference victory over visiting York behind four goals from freshman Aileen McCausland (Hereford).

After falling behind 2-1, St. Mary's scored seven unanswered goals.

After a goal by York, junior midfielder Lauren Carrier (Old Mill) scored twice within 10 seconds to give the Seahawks an eight-goal lead with 18:45 remaining.

Freshman goalie Ella Schoming (North Carroll) earned her first college win with 10 stops.
