Guess which Oriole is driving a 1981 Trans Am with a license plate that reads I Heart Dixie? If you said Jamie Walker, proceed to the window and collect your winnings.
Former teammate Troy Percival has a California-based company that builds vintage cars. Pontiac stopped making the Firebird model, broken down into four "generations," in 2002, so Walker contacted Percival.
Walker's ride includes the original engine and parts, except for the radio, seats and interior. It's black with gold trim and includes the classic gold bird on the hood, and it's getting a lot of attention. Aubrey Huff walked into the clubhouse and immediately asked Kevin Millar if he had seen it.
"It's just a toy, something for me to drive on Sundays to the ballpark," Walker said. "I'll see if I can get pulled over. I'm sure the police will be waiting for me."
It probably doesn't come as a surprise that Walker is a big fan of the Smokey and the Bandit trilogy.
