Bowie State men run winning streak to 7

The Bowie State men's basketball team jumped to a big early lead and won its seventh consecutive game, defeating Elizabeth City State, 78-66, last night.

David Paris had a game-high 20 points for Bowie State (19-7, 13-5 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association), which shot 50 percent from the field in the first half to build an 11-point lead.

Jason Ingram (16 points), Orlando Wright (15) and Christian Jackson (12) also reached double figures. Joshua Johnson led the Bulldogs with nine rebounds.

The conference-leading Vikings (20-5, 13-4) were led by Anthony Hilliard's 20 points.

Randolph 74, Goucher 65 -- The Gophers came back from an 18-point deficit to trim the WildCats' lead to one, but Randolph responded with a 10-0 run . Darrin Boswell and Cameron Brown (Owings Mills) each scored 16 points for Goucher.

Women

Bowie State 63, Elizabeth City State 52 -- The Bulldogs made only one of their first 13 shots but rebounded for the victory. Bowie State (20-5, 14-4 CIAA) has its best record since the 1999-2000 season. Bianca Lee had a game-high 21 points and Allyson Swailes had 14 rebounds. April Whitaker had 18 rebounds for the Vikings (12-14, 5-12).
