On Monday, February 11, 2008, JOHN A. LINDHARD JR, age 50, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Baltimore, MD on May 12, 1957, the son of John A. Sr. and Clarissa L. Jones Lindhard. Following high school, John enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy, a career which spanned 26 years, until his retirement in July of 2003 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was an avid hunter, sportsman, environmentalist, and a skilled woodworker who built his own home. John's passion was raising and supporting his two children. He was predeceased by both of his parents. He is survived by his two children Benjamin A. and Emma C. Lindhard, both of Brunswick; his companion Donna Dumas, of Topsham, ME; two sisters Ann and Gary Pearce of MD and Mary Lindhard of MD; two brothers Joseph and Kathy Lindhard of MD, William and Cheryl Lindhard of MD, and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Brunswick Naval Air Station Chapel. Burial in the Maine Veterans Cemetary in Augusta, ME. Those who wish may make contributions in John's memory to CHANS/Hospice, 50 Baribeau Drive, Brunswick ME 04011.
