GOLDEN OLDIES

The 1958 Maryland team, the first Atlantic Coast Conference team outside the state of North Carolina to win the league's postseason tournament, was honored at halftime of yesterday's game. Twelve of the team's surviving members, as well as coach Bud Millikan, took part in the ceremony.

FLU BUG CATCHES UP

Freshman swingman Cliff Tucker missed the game with the flu. Tucker was the first player sidelined by the worst flu outbreak to hit the College Park campus in more than 10 years. More than 200 cases have been reported recently by the campus health center.

BLOCK PARTY

The Terps, who lead the ACC in blocks per game, added to their total with eight against Florida State. Senior center Bambale Osby had four, and senior forward James Gist had three. Walk-on Jason McAlpin, who played seven minutes in place of Tucker, had one.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

The Terps will meet Virginia Tech at Comcast Center on Wednesday at 9 p.m. The Hokies beat Maryland, 67-66, on Jan. 12 in Blacksburg after trailing by five with 1:46 remaining.
