Wilde Lake seeks candidates

The Wilde Lake Community Association is seeking candidates for five seats on the Village Board and one seat on the Columbia Council.

The positions are for one-year terms, beginning May 1.

Nominations will be accepted from Feb. 25 through March 12. Interested residents can pick up a nomination packet at Slayton House.

GGP official Hamm to address meeting

Gregory Hamm, regional vice president of General Growth Properties and general manager of Columbia, will attend the Wilde Lake Village Board meeting at 8 p.m. tomorrow at Slayton House in the Wilde Lake Village Center. He will discuss the downtown development master-planning process. The meeting is open to everyone. Information: 410-730-3987.

Tea, jewelry show -- The Town Center Community Association will offer Sunday Afternoon Tea at Historic Oakland from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. today and March 16. A jewelry show will be presented by Twins Silver Dream. Sandwiches, desserts and warm scones will be served with tea in the ballroom. The cost is $20. Mah-jongg -- Those ages 18 or older are invited to Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Center for mah-jongg at 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Admission is free. Participants are invited to bring a game and attend with a friend. 410-730-3987.

Belly dance -- Mia Naja al Sephira will offer a belly dance class for children at Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Center. The Saturday morning classes, which run through March 15, are sponsored by the Wilde Lake Community Association. Mommy and Me classes will be from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The classes are for children ages 6 to 12. The cost is $72 for six sessions; $15 to drop in.

Environmental action -- The Town Center Community Association will sponsor an Environmental Action Group to educate and foster environmentally positive action in the community. The group will meet at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, at Historic Oakland, 5430 Vantage Point Road. Registration is requested. 410-730-4744.
