Chris Vann scored 20 points - including six three-pointers - to lead the Mount St. Mary's men to a 78-61 win over host Fairleigh Dickinson last night.
Shawn Atupem added 17 points, and Kelly Beidler came off the bench to grab a game-high 12 rebounds for the Mountaineers (12-13, 8-6 Northeast Conference). They shot 50 percent from the field and out-rebounded the Knights 50-28.
Manny Ubilla had 20 points and five steals and Sean Baptiste finished with 13 points for Fairleigh Dickinson (7-16, 3-10), which made just 34.4 percent of its shots.
The Mountaineers were in command for most of the game and held a 38-23 lead at halftime. The Knights scored the first four points of the second half, but the Mountaineers went on a 15-4 run and were never challenged again, leading by as many as 31 points in the second half.
Women
Towson 57, Hofstra 46 -- Dovile Miliauskaite had her first career double double with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the host Tigers (16-7, 8-4 Colonial Athletic Association) pulled away in the second half of a victory over the Pride (4-19, 2-10).
UDC 49, Bowie State 48 -- Despite a 23-3 second-half run, the host Bulldogs (17-5) couldn't catch the Firebirds (16-7). Sherika Thomas paced Bowie State with 11 points and eight rebounds, Markeya Watson grabbed 15 rebounds and Teaunsha Robinson had 10 points.
