Louis A. Faber, 87

Louis A. Faber, a retired automobile manager, died Tuesday of complications from emphysema at Oak Crest Village retirement community in Parkville. He was 87.

Mr. Faber was born in Baltimore and raised on Eastern Avenue. He was a graduate of Patterson Park High School and served in the Army during World War II.

After the war, he took a position as display manager at the old Cannon Shoe Co. plant on Mount Royal Avenue. In the early 1960s, he became an auto salesman at A.D. Anderson Oldsmobile Inc. at Howard and 25th streets.

He spent the next 25 years in auto sales as a salesman, manager and general manager until 1984, when he retired from Miller Motors Buick Inc. in Northeast Baltimore.

The longtime Cockeysville resident lived in Smyrna, Del., for several years after retiring. He later returned to Cockeysville, where he lived until 2006, when he moved to the Parkville retirement community.

He was an avid aviation fan - especially of World War II aircraft - family members said.

Services are private.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Catherine Kneucker; a son, Paul G. Faber of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Thelma Schaefer of Arbutus.
