Weather forces IAAM schedule changes

The Baltimore Sun

Snowy and icy weather over the past two days has forced schedule changes in this week's Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland tournaments for girls basketball and wrestling.

The girls basketball tournament was interrupted when most teams were unable to play their quarterfinal games Tuesday. A few quarterfinals were played yesterday, but six others were moved to this afternoon.

The remaining quarterfinals in all conferences -- with one exception -- are scheduled for today. Beth Tfiloh and Park advanced in the C Conference quarterfinals Tuesday and will play their semifinal game today at Park at 5:30 p.m.

All other semifinals will be played tomorrow.

The championship games are still scheduled Sunday at Villa Julie College, with the B Conference final at 3 p.m., the A Conference final at 5 p.m. and the C Conference final at 7 p.m. In the event of bad weather Sunday, the games likely would be moved to Monday at a site to be determined.

All of the wrestling State Regional Dual Tournaments also were rescheduled because of weather. The tournaments, originally scheduled for yesterday, have been rescheduled to today at the same times and at the same locations.
