Kaleo Kina had 22 points and six rebounds and Navy made 25 of 29 free throws to defeat host Lehigh, 80-75, last night.
The win improved Navy's overall record to 12-12 and 5-4 in the Patriot League. The Midshipmen are at .500 overall for the first time since Nov. 11 and are above .500 in league play for the first time since January 2002.
The Mids swept the season series against Lehigh and won for the second time in a row in league play. The win also moved Navy's Patriot League road record to 3-1.
The score was tied at 71 with 1:45 to play, but Greg Sprink made seven of eight free throws down the stretch to lift the Mids.
Three other players scored in double figures for the Mids. Sprink scored 18 points, Chris Harris added 12 and Adam Teague scored 10 on 4-for-4 shooting.
Women
Lehigh 54, Navy 53 -- The Midshipmen cut a 19-point second-half deficit to two, but Lehigh's Claire Sullivan blocked a potential game-tying three-pointer by Kalen Kropa with less than four seconds to play to allow the Mountain Hawks to escape with a 54-50 victory at Alumni Hall.
UMBC 62, Stony Brook 49 -- Junior guard Chantay Frazier and sophomore guard Carlee Cassidy combined to score 35 of UMBC's 38 second-half points to lead the visiting Retrievers (8-15, 4-6 America East) past conference rival Stony Brook (6-17, 1-9). The Retrievers completed their first season sweep of the Seawolves and have won back-to-back games for the first time since early December. Frazier led all scorers with a career-high 26 points, including 24 in the second half, while Cassidy scored 11 of her 18 points in the second period.
Gettysburg 55, Johns Hopkins 53 -- Freshman Lyndsay Burton's jump shot with one second left rattled out as the Bullets held off a late rally by the Blue Jays. Gettysburg (14-8, 10-5 Centennial Conference) swept the season series from Johns Hopkins (10-11, 8-7) for the first time since the 1987-88 season. Burton led Hopkins with 14 points, and Andrea Dodrill had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
