Don't miss a natural phenomenon that will not be visible again from this area until 2010 -- a lunar eclipse. Howard Community College's Science Department and Howard Astronomical League will host a viewing of the Wednesday event. HAL's amateur astronomers and HCC astronomy faculty will be available to answer questions and point out constellations and their stars. Viewers are encouraged to bring binoculars and small telescopes and to dress warmly.

SALUTING BLACK ADMIRALS

Super Stars of the Navy: The Navy's Black Admirals honors the Navy's African-American flag officers with an exhibit of photos looking back at the officers as midshipmen and showing them today. Flag officers are those above the rank of captain who wear a flag indicating their rank. The exhibit features career profiles of 14 of the 35 active-duty and retired black admirals, a tribute to black World War II sailors and a salute to the first Naval Academy female graduate to earn flag rank. It also commemorates Cmdr. Wesley A. Brown, the first black officer to graduate from the Naval Academy.

Enjoy some unique music at the monthly "open mike" Folk Music Night with featured performer Kimmon Waldruff.
