Bowie State swept its season series against Virginia State with a 75-69 victory last night.
Carlos Williams came off the bench to score a game-high 17 points for the visiting Bulldogs, who shot 60 percent from the field in the first half.
Jason Ingram (15 points) and David Paris (13 points) also reached double figures.
Women
Bowie State 59, Virginia State 56, OT -- The Bulldogs made eight of 12 free throws in overtime to defeat the Trojans. Bianca Lee (10 points, 11 rebounds), Allyson Swailes (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Markeya Watson (10 points, 12 rebounds) had double doubles for visiting Bowie (17-4, 12-4 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association). Both teams were 1-for-9 from the field in overtime. Virginia State (9-14, 4-11) shot 53 percent in the second half to overcome a five-point halftime deficit. Bowie appeared ready to put the Trojans away early, taking a 19-9 lead by the 9:01 mark of the first half. However, Virginia State put together an 11-0 run to take its first lead at 20-19 with 3:52 remaining in the half. The Bulldogs regained the lead on their next possession, after a pair of free throws by freshman Lakisha Walker. Bowie closed the first half with a 6-0 run and led 25-20 at halftime.
Dickinson 62, McDaniel 42 -- Despite Whitney Snoops' 10 points and 12 rebounds, the visiting Green Terror (11-11 10-6 Centennial Conference) lost to the conference-leading Red Devils (15-6, 13-2). McDaniel went on a 15-3 second-half run, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 36-16 halftime lead built by Dickinson.
