Girls basketball
Meade at Old Mill
Friday, 5:15 p.m. Outlook: Both teams are battling for second place in the county league and a berth in the county championship game Feb. 26 at North County. They were among three teams at 9-3 - the other is South River - behind 12-0 Arundel when the week started. Visiting Meade suffered a 31-30 upset loss at Chesapeake (4-8, 5-12) on Friday. Seniors Eris Mitchell and Meische Cox, along with sophomores Nicole Dixon and Alissa Chambliss, look to get the Mustangs' offense back in gear after the dismal effort at Chesapeake. The host Patriots (14-4 at start the week) have firepower with junior Ciarra Lucas and senior Aleah Queen.

BOYS BASKETBALL Annapolis at No. 10 Old Mill
Tuesday, 5 p.m. Outlook: There will be two county games left when this game takes place. Old Mill started this week in first place in the county by a game at 10-2, with Arundel and Broadneck at 9-3 and Annapolis among three 8-4 teams. The host Patriots could possibly clinch a berth in the Feb. 26 county final with a victory over the Panthers, who are fighting to stay in contention. This game has potential to turn into an up-tempo shootout, with both teams fond of the three-pointer. Annapolis will come into Millersville with long-distance gunners in Garee Boston and the Brice brothers, senior Sean and sophomore Chris. Old Mill has more shooters, however, with Chris Day, Brandon Riley, Deonte Puller and Eric Savage. When the Patriots are hot, they are really hot. In a 76-51 rout of neighbor Glen Burnie last week, they shot 70 percent from long distance.
