Fugitive is arrested in rape of Annapolis girl, 13, last year
A 28-year-old Prince George's County man has been charged with raping a then-13-year-old Annapolis girl more than a year ago, city police said. Dwight Anthony Carter of Temple Hills had been sought since the girl reported the incident on Jan. 13, 2007.
She said she was sleeping over at a friend's house on the 900 block of Royal Street when she knocked on the bedroom door of Carter, who was living there at the time, because his stereo music was keeping her awake. Police say he pulled the girl into bed and attacked her.
A warrant was issued for his arrest in October, but Carter wasn't found until midnight Sunday, when Prince George's police responding to report of an armed man when then encountered him. Although he was not the man people were called to investigate, a routine background check showed the year-old warrant, and he was arrested. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on no bail.
3 teens charged with threats on cell phone to girl
Three Pasadena teens have been charged after a teenage girl received a threatening message on her cell phone showing two people wearing pillowcases over their heads and holding what looked like a rifle, Anne Arundel County police said.
The girl, who lives on Mansion House Crossing, told police that she got the text message on her cell phone Saturday, with the two pillowcase-wearing subjects yelling threats and pointing the gun at the phone, while pretending to fire the weapon. A second threatening text message was received before the victim was able to contact the police department.
Officers traced the message to the cell phone of a 15-year-old boy from Pasadena. Further investigation revealed that two other 15-year-old boys from Pasadena were also involved, police said. All three were charged with telephone misuse and telephone harassment.
Armed robbers at tack girl; Annapolis police ar rest three
Two Annapolis men and a woman have been charged in connection with the armed attack and robbery of a 17-year-old girl, city police said.
The teen was walking to her Shiley Street home after midnight Saturday when she was accosted in the King George Street area near the College Creek Bridge. The trio grabbed her from behind and demanded money. When she resisted, one attacker put a gun to her head and ordered her to stop screaming. When the trigger was apparently pulled, the gun did not discharge. The attackers pulled off her pants, belt and a shoe, when she continued fighting them off. When they fell against a car, setting off its alarm, the attackers fled toward St. John's College.
After the victim gave officials a description of the assailants, police quickly arrested Dewayne Allen, 26, of Clay Street and Tiera Williams, 20, of Merryman Court, in the area. They were charged with armed robbery and related crimes and are being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center on $500,000 bail.
A third man, John Emory Simms, 19, of Town Pines Court, was found in possession of brass knuckles and a BB gun that closely matched the description of the weapon used in the attack on the girl. He was charged with possession of brass knuckles, and police were exploring a possible link to the assault.
The victim's stolen clothing items were found strewn about the college campus.
Odenton BP gas station robbed by masked gunman
A robber held up an Odenton gas station at gunpoint, Anne Arundel County police said. An employee of the BP at 1604 Annapolis Road told police that a man wearing a ski mask and black clothes entered around 8 p.m. Friday, displayed a silver handgun and demanded money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.
Two men rob pedestrian, flee after grabbing items
Two men, including one possibly armed with a shotgun, robbed a pedestrian in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County police said. The victim said he was walking in the 7900 block of Vintage Circle about 11 p.m. Friday when two young men approached and demanded his money. They stole his personal items and fled on foot.
Robbers smash glass doors, rob two Eastport businesses
Someone burglarized two Eastport businesses after throwing rocks through the glass doors to get inside, Annapolis police said. Police responding to an alarm about 3:30 a.m. Thursday found the shattered doors to the Subway at 895 Bay Ridge Road and the adjacent Admiral Cleaners. The cash drawers from both businesses had been removed, though no money had been inside the register at the dry cleaners.
Police arrest man who won't stop pulling girl friend's hair
An Annapolis man was arrested after police found him pulling his girlfriend by her hair, city police said. Officers called to the 900 block of Royal St. on Friday said Lawrence Michale Branch III, 21, of Bay Forest Court, refused to release the woman and had to be restrained. He was charged with assault and resisting arrest, and was also served with a warrant charging him with breaking into the same woman's apartment and vandalizing her property on Dec. 28.
Annapolis pair charged after drug raid on home
Two Annapolis men have been charged with multiple drug crimes after a monthlong investigation, Anne Arundel County police said. Police raided a home on the 1200 block of Hampton Road about 8 p.m. Feb. 6 and seized $1,600 in marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia, digital scales and unidentified stolen county property. Harvey Fredrick Schroeder, 20, and Richard Louis Schroeder, 21, of that address, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and the elder Schroeder was also charged with theft.
Three Pasadena men arrested after drugs, hand gun are seized
Police seized drugs, cash and a handgun and arrested three Pasadena men on drug charges after a monthlong investigation, Anne Arundel County police said. Police raided a home on the 1200 block of Hillside Road about 8 p.m. Thursday and recovered 100 grams of marijuana and two grams of cocaine worth a total of $3,200, along with drug paraphernalia, nearly $12,000 in cash and a .38 caliber revolver.
Daniel A. Outen, 19, and Raymond L. Outen were charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and possession with the intent to distribute. Matthew J. Hurst, 39, who also lives at the same address, faces similar charges and was served with two outstanding warrants.
