Generator fumes blamed after six sent to hospitals
Six people were hospitalized yesterday with carbon monoxide poisoning because of improper use of fuel-powered generators, county fire officials said.
The incident happened just before 6 a.m. in the 3600 block of Garth Manor Court near Randallstown, officials said. Four people were taken to the hyperbaric chamber at Maryland Shock Trauma Center and two were taken to University of Maryland Medical Center.
All were in serious condition, according to the Fire Department, but the poisoning did not appear to be life-threatening. The victims ranged in age from 14 to 59.
Fire officials believe the incident was the result of two portable generators left running in an attached garage. Fire officials said generators should be placed outside and at least 15 feet from doors and windows.

2 developments get public airing
Separate community input meetings have been scheduled for 7 p.m. tomorrow on proposals to build condominiums at Galloway Creek marina in Bowleys Quarters and to construct a large residential and office development in Owings Mills.
The Galloway Creek plan, which has been the source of debate in the community, calls for a four-story, 36-unit condo building with parking on the first level for 51 cars. Each unit would also have a slip at the marina.
The preliminary plans for the Plinlimmon Farms development in Owings Mills include 330 townhouses, 430 condominiums and 24,000 square feet of stores or offices to be built on 104 acres off Lyons Mills Road near Lyonswood Drive.
The county has designated each proposal as a "planned-unit development," which eliminates certain zoning rules, if the project is deemed to be of community benefit.
The Galloway Creek meeting will be in Room J-137 of the administration building at the Essex campus of the Community College of Baltimore County, 7201 Rossville Blvd.
The Plinlimmon Farms meeting will be at New Town High School, 4931 New Town Boulevard in Owings Mills.
Women of the year
Leppert, Biondo, Kaur honored
The county Commission for Women has named attorney Cynthia L. Leppert of Timonium as the 2008 Woman of the Year.
Young Woman of the Year awards went to Gabriella Biondo, a senior at George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology, and Kiranjit Kaur, a senior at Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts.
Leppert, president of the Women's Bar Association of Maryland, was honored for her work as an attorney to advance the interests of women. She is a principal in the law firm of Neuberger, Quinn, Gielen, Rubin and Gibber.
Other winners in the 26th annual Woman of the Year competition include four recipients of the Women Making a Difference Award. They are Norma Peden Killebrew of Cockeysville, Dr. Marlene Mahipat of Randallstown, Nzinga Oneferua-El of Overlea and Alfreda Robinson-Dawkins of Gwynn Oak.

Bodine works to be displayed
Jennifer Bodine, daughter of renowned Sun photographer A. Aubrey Bodine, will be the guest at a reception for an exhibition of her father's work from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Notre Dame Preparatory School, 815 Hampton Lane, Towson.
The exhibit continues through March 6 in the art gallery of the Henry J. Knott Performing Arts Building.
Bodine's photographic career began in 1923 when, as an office boy with The Sun, he submitted photographs of the Thomas Viaduct at Relay and they were published. He spent the next half-century at the newspaper, documenting a variety of subjects.

Parkville
Councilmen to address meeting
Baltimore County Councilmen T. Bryan McIntire and Joseph Bartenfelder will be the guest speakers at the Greater Parkville Community Council meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Parkville Recreation and Senior Center, 8601 Harford Road.
They will discuss legislative priorities and improvement projects, and address community concerns in the Parkville, Carney and Cub Hill areas.
