GLIMPSED! AT LEXINGTON MARKET

THE BALTIMORE SUN

Snow and sleet are no reason to sacrifice style. In the case of Terry "Chico" Love, bad weather is just another way to show it off. And walking over to Lexington Market for lunch is a great way for this clothing store salesman to prove that a stitched shearling jacket and hip work boots embody both fashion and function.

Age: 52

Residence: East Baltimore

Job: Just For Kicks salesman

Self-described style: "Odd. I don't look like anybody [else]. I like unusual clothes."

The look: Beige Kangol hat. Brown shearling jacket. Black, brown, navy, white and beige, diagonally striped shirt. Brown Herman's Survivors boots. Dark-wash jeans.

Where it came from: The hat came from a store that's no longer in business. The jacket and shirt came from Just For Kicks. The boots? "I can't remember. But I don't like Timberlands because everybody else wears them." The jeans are from a store (he can't remember which one) on Howard Street.

Sketching it out: "I plan outfits. ... I put everything on the bed and look at it. I think about what I'm going to put together."

Fashion genes: "I've liked clothes since I was about 5 years old. My father's also a dresser. His name is Terrico. That's why I'm Chico. ... My whole family is into fashion."

His casual style: "I don't like big T-shirts or hoodies. Or pants off my butt. I don't wear any of that. ... I dress like this every day. I wear shoes. I don't wear tennis [shoes]. Except to play basketball. ... All my jeans, I cut and sew them so they won't hit the ground."

His must-haves: "I love hats -- all color hats. I never leave the house without a hat. ... And cologne is important. I always [carry] a sample of Ralph Lauren Chaps with me, in case I meet a pretty lady."
