Heart Month to be celebrated

Upper Chesapeake Health will recognize Heart Month by holding a Heart Club at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Maryland Room.

This is a free support group for individuals with heart disease and their families.

Office of Aging plans workshop series

The Harford County Department of Community Services' Office on Aging is holding a workshop series entitled "Living Well ... Take Charge of Your Health" from 9:30 a.m. to noon Fridays, this week to March 14 at the Edgewood Senior Activity Center, 1000 Gateway Drive.

The cost is $5.

Modeled after the Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop from Stanford University, this series is for people with chronic medical conditions that may cause suffering and loss of physical abilities over many years.

Examples of chronic conditions are diabetes, heart disease, stroke, arthritis and lung disease.

The series helps people learn skills to manage their symptoms.

Joint seminar at Harford Memorial

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a free seminar on joint pain with Dr. Brian DeMuth, an orthopedic surgeon, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 19 in the side section of the cafeteria at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace.

Participants can learn how to have a better quality of life and hear discussions on different options for individuals suffering with joint pain.

Doctors to screen for varicose veins

Upper Chesapeake Health is offering free varicose vein screening by surgeons from Vascular Surgery Associates from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 20 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

People who have spider veins, large veins, or pain and swelling in their legs at the end of the day can have their leg veins examined by a certified vascular physician and discuss various treatment options.

Bel Air hospital sets 'Dining with Docs'

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a "Dining with Docs" dinner, lecture and discussion at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 20 in Chesapeake Conference Center at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air.

Dr. Lynne Einbinder, cardiologist, will discuss "Heart Health: What's New." Information about heart disease and treatment advances will be given.

The cost is $5 (cash only). Reservations are required.

CPR class scheduled at Upper Chesapeake

Upper Chesapeake Health is offering a cardiopulmonary resuscitation class for healthcare providers from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 20 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

This class follows the American Heart Association standards. The cost is $35, cash or check only. Registration is required.

Screening available for artery disease

Upper Chesapeake Health will offer a free screening for cardiovascular peripheral artery disease from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 22 at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace.

The screening is sponsored by the Upper Chesapeake Cardiovascular Institute.
