The Baltimore Sun

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Fallston @ Aberdeen

Thursday, 7 p.m. Outlook: Fallston edged Aberdeen, 44-43, when the two teams met last month, but each team was missing its top scorer. Jess Harlee has returned for Fallston after missing several games due to corrective eye surgery. Other starters like Sarah Spalt and Lindsay Howard came up big while Harlee was out, and helped the Cougars lock up a spot in the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference finals. Aberdeen was missing top scorer Tiffany Taylor last time, and the Eagles - tied with Joppatowne and C. Milton Wright for second in the Chesapeake Division behind Fallston - are hoping to get her back shortly.

THE SUN'S PICK: Fallston

BOYS BASKETBALL

No. 1 Mount St. Joseph @ No. 14 John Carroll

Friday, 7 p.m. Outlook: Mount St. Joseph handed the Patriots a 73-54 defeat earlier this season. The Gaels lead the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference in offense and defense. The Patriots need this victory to stay in the top four in the conference, as the top four gain playoff spots. Forward Isaiah Philmore and others need to have big games to give John Carroll a chance at an upset.

THE SUN'S PICK: Mount St. Joseph

GIRLS BASKETBALL

C. Milton Wright @ Joppatowne

Friday, 7 p.m. Outlook: C.M. Wright has come up short a few times in close games this year, and this one won't be easy. The two teams are tied with Aberdeen for second in the Chesapeake Division. Joppatowne is a young team getting help from a bunch of freshmen, including Zameria Jones. The Mariners breezed to a 76-23 win over Havre de Grace last week and have shown they can play with good teams, but can they stop Lauren Houck and the C.M. Wright offense? The Mustangs will be motivated after suffering a tough one-point loss to Fallston last week.

THE SUN'S PICK: C.M. Wright
