Host families needed for camp

Kidsave International is seeking host families for its Maryland Summer Miracles Program, which brings orphanage children, ages 7 to 12, to the U.S. to experience family life, attend camp and possibly be adopted by an American family.

Host families are needed for several children from Taiwan for five weeks during July and August.

Host families provide a loving, stable environment for the child, get the child to camp, attend all required Kidsave functions and advocate for the child.

Training and support to host families are provided. Committee volunteers who have an interest in helping advocate on behalf of the program are also needed.

Information sessions on the Kidsave Summer Miracles Program will be held at 7 p.m. as follows: Tuesday at Cecil Community College, Student Services Conference Room, One Seahawk Drive, North East; and Feb. 28 at St. Margaret Parish Office, conference room, 141 Hickory Ave., Bel Air.

Advance registration is requested.

Library branches collect cell phones

Harford County Public Library will coordinate with the Sexual Assault/Spouse Abuse Resource Center to hold a cell phone collection at all library branches during February.

Donated cell phones will be given to the resource center for its clients who have been the victim of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. Having the cell phone will enable clients to call 911 in an emergency for themselves or their children.

Cell phones that do not work are sent to Shelter Alliance in Florida, which pays for and recycles used cell phones.
