COLLEGE PARK -- Shay Doron traveled halfway around the world last night for two purposes: to be honored for her contributions to the Maryland women's basketball program and to cheer on her former teammates against Virginia.

A banner with Doron's No. 22 was lowered from the Comcast Center rafters at halftime without a hitch, but Maryland's 86-80 win was far more difficult, even more than Doron's trip from Slovakia.
