The Ravens hired two offensive assistants yesterday, adding wide receivers coach Jim Hostler and quality control coach Craig Ver Steeg to coach John Harbaugh's staff.

Hostler - who spent the past three years with the San Francisco 49ers, including last season as the team's offensive coordinator - has tutored receivers such as Santana Moss, Donte Stallworth, Wayne Chrebet and Justin McCareins.

"Adding another coach who has been a coordinator in the NFL brings quality experience to the staff," Harbaugh said in a statement. "Jim's emphasis on attention to detail and toughness match what we want to have on this team. A number of teams were looking at Jim."

Ver Steeg left Rutgers, where he coached the running backs in 2007 and was offensive coordinator from 2003 to 2006. Ver Steeg coached with Harbaugh when they were at the University of Cincinnati from 1990 to 1993.

"Craig brings a wealth of experience from both college and the NFL," Harbaugh said. "He's been a coordinator; he has coached running backs, quarterbacks and receivers. His experience and knowledge will be invaluable to the development of our offense."
