State basketball Ray Barbosa scored 25 points, Jay Greene had 11 assists and UMBC beat Stony Brook, 75-63, last night for its season-high fourth consecutive victory.
Darryl Proctor added 17 points and Cavell Johnson had 12 for the Retrievers (16-7, 8-2 America East), who improved to 9-1 at home and dealt the Seawolves (4-18, 1-9) their eighth straight defeat.
Emanuel Neto led Stony Brook, which fell to 1-11 on the road, with 14 points and eight rebounds. Ricky Lucas scored 11 points.
UMBC has won eight of its past 10 games.
James Madison 73, Towson 68 -- Kyle Swanston and Terrance Carter combined for 24 points in the second half as the host Dukes (11-11, 4-8 Colonial Athletic Association) rallied to beat the Tigers (9-13, 5-7).
Johns Hopkins 64, Franklin & Marshall 59 -- Doug Polster led three players in double figures with 15 points as the host Blue Jays (12-8, 8-5 Centennial Conference) beat the Diplomats (11-9, 6-7). All eight Hopkins players scored in the final 20 minutes to secure the win.
McDaniel 70, Swarthmore 64 -- T.J. Odunlami (Atholton) scored a career-best 18 points to lead the visiting Green Terror (13-7, 8-5 Centennial) past the Garnet (5-15, 1-12). McDaniel's Kevin Henry and Chris Prior (Westminster) also reached double figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Ursinus 92, Washington College 45 -- The host Bears (18-2, 13-0 Centennial) went on a 24-0 run in the first half to spark the win. Alan Kines (Towson) had nine points for the Shoremen (4-16, 1-12).
Women
UMES 61, Delaware State 55 -- Casey Morton (17 points) made a jump shot and went 3-for-3 from the foul line in the final 33 seconds to lift the host Hawks (13-8, 6-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) over the Hornets (10-12, 5-3). April McBride added 13 points for UMES. Delaware State led 32-27 at the half before UMES outscored it 34-23 in the second half.
Villa Julie 57, Gallaudet 54 -- The visiting Mustangs (7-14) - led by Tonia Cristino with 14 points - made three free throws in the last 11 seconds of play to break a tie at 54. Nukeitra Hayes led all scorers with 32 points for the Bison (3-16).
Salisbury 58, York 55 -- Chante McKinney hit the game-winning three-pointer with 1:40 left to break the sixth tie and lift the visiting Sea Gulls (8-12, 5-6 Capital Athletic Conference) over the Spartans (15-6, 7-5). McKinney made her only three-pointer. She is 4-for-19 this season and 3-for-5 in the past five games.
St. Mary's 71, Hood 54 -- Steph Saint-Aubin had 19 points and Allie Scott added 16 as the visiting Seahawks (14-7, 7-5 CAC) beat the Blazers (4-16, 2-10). Jen Willison had a game-high 27 points for Hood.
