Eastern
Robbery try -- Carmello Leynes, 58, a U.S. Postal Service employee, was preparing to remove mail from his truck in the 1000 block of N. Broadway about 6 p.m. Tuesday when a man armed with a stick reached into his pockets and attempted to rob Leynes. Police said Leynes fought the man off, causing him to flee with no property or money. Leynes was not injured, and no arrest has been made.
Arrest -- Police said that after a man broke into a house in the 2000 block of E. Lafayette Ave. about 8 p.m. Tuesday, he got into an argument with an 18-year-old female occupant whom he knew. The woman was assaulted and then fled to a second-floor room and called police. Arrested at the scene and charged with burglary and domestic assault was Marquise Lewis, 18, of the 1700 block of E. 25th St.
Northern
Arson -- A 2004 Lincoln Navigator was parked in an alley in the 200 block of Overhill Road about 4 p.m. Tuesday when someone used a flammable liquid to set the vehicle ablaze. Damage was estimated at $15,000.
Burglary -- Someone broke into Greenish Groceries in the 400 block of E. 25th St. through the wall of a vacant, second-floor apartment early Tuesday and stole several cell phones.

Cutting/arrest -- Two police officers were in the 100 block of S. Carey St. about 9 p.m. Monday when they saw a man being stabbed in the chest with a knife. Arrested and charged with aggravated assault was Petro Taylor of the 2700 block of Gwynnmore Ave. in Gwynn Oak. The victim and Taylor, who also was injured, were treated at Harbor Hospital.

Burglary/arrests -- Four East Baltimore teenage boys were arrested about 4 a.m. Tuesday inside a fenced area at Pete's Cycles in the 7500 block of Belair Road. Each was charged as a juvenile with fourth-degree burglary and released into the custody of parents. No entry was gained into the main building.
