Annapolis @ No. 13 Broadneck

Friday, 6:45 p.m. Outlook: This is one of the county's top rivalries, although it has lost some luster since the '80s and '90s. Annapolis has come on strong in recent weeks, led by Garee Boston, Sean Brice, Brian Eng and Chris Beck. The Panthers defeated Severna Park, 37-36, last Friday. Broadneck (12-4) has lost leading scorer J.J. Hicks for the season due to disciplinary reasons and lost two straight games last week without him. The Bruins won the first meeting between the two, 62-51, in January in the Cap City Classic. Even without Hicks, the Bruins still hold the edge in rebounding with senior Kevin Hunt. If the visiting Panthers can pick it up on the boards, they've got a shot for the upset.

THE SUN'S PICK: Annapolis

GIRLS BASKETBALL No. 10 South River @ Severna Park

Friday, 5 p.m. Outlook: This a matchup of two teams battling for one of the two berths in the county championship game on Feb. 26 at North County. Both teams have players who have reached 1,000 career points - the visiting Seahawks' Jacklyn Nucci and Brittany Lilley of the Falcons. In addition to being big scorers, Nucci and Lilley are team leaders who contribute in many ways to their respective teams. Severna Park was 9-6 starting the week, and South River was 11-5. A loss by one or the other will likely knock them out of the county race that includes Arundel, Old Mill and Southern. The Falcons may have the edge in rebounding.

THE SUN'S PICK: Severna Park
