Josh Howard scored 28 points and the Dallas Mavericks overcame Hedo Turkoglu's triple double to hold off the host Orlando Magic, 107-98, last night.
Dallas led by as many as 19, but Orlando got to 83-80 on Rashard Lewis' three-pointer with 7:15 left. The Magic didn't score again for almost five minutes, and Dallas went on a 10-0 run to put the game away.
Turkoglu had 13 points, a career-high 13 assists and 12 rebounds, while Dwight Howard scored 28. But Dwight Howard, the NBA's rebound leader, averaging 15, had only seven, and Orlando was out-rebounded 47-34.
Jason Terry scored 20 points - 12 in the fourth quarter - Dirk Nowitzki had 20 points and nine rebounds, and Brandon Bass scored 16 for Dallas.
The loss ends a four-game winning streak for Orlando and a two-game skid for Dallas. The Mavericks closed a four-game Eastern Conference road trip at 2-2.
Dallas led comfortably until the third quarter, when Orlando finally drew within single digits. Maurice Evans had nine of his 16 points in the period, all in an 18-8 Magic run over eight minutes to close to 69-64.

Clippers 103, Knicks 94 -- Corey Maggette scored 19 points in his return to the lineup, and Los Angeles ended a nine-game road losing streak by beating slumping New York.
Rockets 92, Timberwolves 86 -- Tracy McGrady had 26 points, six rebounds and seven assists, and visiting Houston held on for a victory over Minnesota.
Jazz 110, Hornets 88 -- Deron Williams had 29 points and 11 assists, and host Utah set a team record for three-pointers in a victory over New Orleans that extended its winning streak to nine games. The Jazz went 14-for-22 from three-point range.
Suns 118, Bobcats 104 -- Leandro Barbosa scored 30 points to help Phoenix stay unbeaten against visiting Charlotte.
Bulls 118, SuperSonics 108 -- Joe Smith (Maryland) scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and visiting Chicago beat Seattle.
Nuggets 105, Trail Blazers 103 -- Carmelo Anthony (Towson Catholic) had 25 points, 15 rebounds and five assists to help lead Denver over host Portland in overtime.
